Care

Half the joy of the culture is having my geckos in a natural, appealing setting to observe as well as photograph. Of course it’s nearly impossible to recreate a completely natural setting and not usually necessary. Most species need a minimal setup to thrive and breed for years. There are so many options for caging on the market today, but my favorites are either terrariums or vivariums especially designed for herps, or rack systems. I use both of these caging options for my geckos and they both serve their own purpose well.

I use the racks for lone breeder geckos, both females and males. The racks are also what I house each hatchling in. In my racks, every gecko is kept separate to ensure they have no competition in feeding with cage mates and that they remain in top shape.

The terrariums are perfect for displaying the geckos and for recreating their natural habitat. I like to keep a small group of every species in one of these setups so they are not all hidden away in racks. Even though the majority of the geckos I keep are nocturnal, most will venture out during the day and are a joy to watch!
